Floorball
Floorball is a dynamic and fast-paced type of indoor hockey, and has rapidly gained popularity at Scots College. With teams spanning most year groups, this exciting sport offers students an excellent way to stay active and build skills during the summer months.
Played with five field players and a goalkeeper per team, floorball is a relatively new addition to the New Zealand sports scene. Scots College participates in Wellington’s highly competitive leagues, hosted at the Ākau Tangi Sports Centre in Terms 1 and 4.
Floorball continues to go from strength to strength at Scots College. During the 2026 Summer Tournament Week, the Junior Girls team claimed their grade championship, while the Junior Boys team secured first place in their division at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Floorball Cup. This followed an outstanding 2025 season, highlighted by the Junior Mixed Team winning the national title during Summer Tournament Week. In 2024, the College fielded 14 floorball teams, reflecting the sport’s growing popularity across the school. Teams have consistently performed strongly, with particularly competitive outings during Term 1 league play. A further highlight was Year 13 student Luka Strode-Penney’s selection for the Under 19 New Zealand team, representing the country at the World Championships and showcasing the pathway for Scots students to succeed at both national and international levels.
