Facilities

Scots College is situated in Strathmore, an Eastern suburb that is close to Wellington Airport and less than 15 minutes drive to the central city. The College occupies a sizeable area of land, with significant outdoor space, allowing students to participate in many activities outside the classroom.

Scots College boasts top-notch facilities that cater to various needs and interests. The classrooms, laboratories, and venues for sports and cultural activities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support learning and exploration.

Sports facilities at Scots College are excellent, featuring playing fields, all-weather outdoor courts, and a fully-equipped gymnasium. The gymnasium includes a multi-purpose court for sports such as basketball and netball, while the Hodge Sports Centre serves as a second gym and provides an indoor practice facility for cricket with four lanes.

The Creative and Performing Arts Centre at Scots College is a premier facility for unleashing creative potential. Spread over three floors, this purpose-built center is equipped with the latest interactive and sound technology. It houses facilities for film and animation production, a fully-rigged stage, a drama theatre, acoustically designed practice rooms, a state-of-the-art recording studio, and a dedicated rehearsal studio.

Flexible Learning Environments can be found throughout the College, including the McKinnon Block. These specially designed spaces cater to collaborative work, individual study, and adaptable teaching methods.

The McKinnon Block also houses facilities for Food Science and a fabrication lab with cutting-edge model and design equipment, aligning Scots College with leading universities in New Zealand. Additionally, the block includes pastoral care facilities for girls, complete with their own tertiary-style common room.

Facility Hire

Scots College offers Catered Accommodation Facilities for up to 100 guests. Use of classrooms, the lecture theatre, and Hall hire can be incorporated into a stay to allow for a perfect venue for a conference, residential programme, or sports team accommodation for activities in the area.

Please note, the facilities are only available during school holidays, and minimum numbers do apply.

  • Facilities for the 2024 April and July holidays, as well as for the 2024-2025 summer break, are already fully booked. Any enquiries for these dates will be put on a waitlist only.
  • Single use rentals of our gymnasium and College Hall are no longer offered outside of our Accommodation Groups due to increased school demand on these facilities. Rental of College vehicles and use of the College kitchen for self-catering is also not offered to our accommodation lets due to insurance restrictions.
