Student Exchange
Scots College is committed to promoting Global Citizenship – the idea that all people have rights and responsibilities that come with being a member of the world, rather than as a citizen of a particular nation or place. Increasingly governments, employers and education experts acknowledge that young people need global skills, knowledge and understanding to thrive and develop meaningful connections with others no matter where they live, study and work.
As an IBO World School, Scots College has an obligation to promote and inspire global citizenship and competence among students, staff and the wider College community.
As part of our global outreach we have established exchange relationships with partner schools around the world. Each year we provide students with the opportunity to travel to different countries and experience life in a foreign school environment. Students benefit by learning about new cultures, improving foreign language skills and become more aware global citizens. In most cases they are billeted with host families, with the expectation that they will host a student from the partner school in return.
Our international exchange partner schools include:
- Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School, China
- Beijing National Day School, China
- Toin Gakuen, Japan
- Tamagawa Academy, Japan
- Berwick School, Australia
- Christ Church Grammar School, Australia
- Louisenlund, Germany
- Northfield Mount Hermon School, USA
- Welham Boys School, India
- Assumption College Primary Section, Thailand
- Brentwood College School, Canada
