Christchurch Terror Attack

As a school community, we will be experiencing shock and profound sadness after the tragic events which took place for the Christchurch Muslim community. Our hearts go out to the many people that have been touched by this tragedy and to the Muslim families within our own community.

Out of this most tragic time, we are witnessing the compassion, love and caring that has shone through for us as a country and as a community. We have witnessed people coming together to support those who are suffering and checking in with those closest to us to see how they are going.

“Whenever there is trauma in the world there are also remarkable demonstrations of solidarity kindness, love and support “

These demonstrations of compassion remind us of the goodness in this world. Focusing on this positivity gives us the strength to offer hope. As a school community, we can all work together to show we are united in making this world a safer place. This is an important message for our children and teenagers to hear at this time.

I have included a link to a resource that provides us with some guidance on some of the best ways to talk with our children and teenagers during this time.

How to talk to Kids and Teens about world trauma
