2023 Junior School Enrolment Process | Scots College

2023 Junior School Enrolment Process

Given the increase in interest we are seeing across our Junior School, we feel it is important to offer a transparent and clear enrolment process to ensure we are continuing to offer a diverse and inclusive environment.

In order to do this, we have made some changes to our Junior School Enrolment Process for enrolments from 2023 onwards, outlined below.

There is no change to the College enrolment process itself, all students must submit an application of enrolment and will be interviewed by the Principal before an offer of place may be made.

There are still some places available across the Junior School for 2022 and applications for enrolment are welcome at any time.

All applications for enrolment received during 2021 will be invited for an interview as per the previous enrolment process. Any applications for enrolment received during 2022 will follow the below process.

Class Size Limits

Our focus is on delivering an holistic education that maintains a sense of whānaungatanga where every student is known, cared for and provided with a personalised education that best develops their strengths and supports in areas that require it. In order to maintain this and provide a working environment conducive to this, class size limits are in place:

Year 0-2: 15 students
Year 3: 20 students
Year 4-6: 22 students (two classes at each Year 5 and 6)

Students already attending the College automatically receive entrance to the subsequent year group in the following year. For students coming through the Junior School, there is no need to re-enrol for the Middle School.

Year 0/1

  • Applications for Year 0 are open throughout the year, though interviews will be held much closer to the student turning five years old. This is likely to be during Term 1 or 2 of the intended year of entrance.
  • Applications for enrolment for students entering Year 1 in 2023 close Friday 8th July 2022.
  • All Year 1 applications for enrolment will be invited for an interview with the Junior School Principal during Term 3 2022.
  • Following interviews, an offer of place may be made by Monday 5th September 2022.

If an offer of place is not made, students may be invited to remain in a Wait Pool. Situations change and places can become available throughout the year.

If any places remain available in Year 1 2023 following the above process enrolments may re-open on Monday 19 September 2022.

Years 2-6

  • Applications for enrolment for students entering Years 2 – 6 in 2023 received after Friday 8th April 2022.
  • Any applications received after April please contact Olive Mulcahy and applications will be dealt with on case by case basis depending on availability in year groups.
  • All applications for enrolment will be invited for an interview with the Junior School Principal between Monday 2 May – Friday 8 July 2022.
  • Following interviews, offers of place will be made by 21 July 2022.

If an offer of place is not made, students may be invited to remain in a wait pool. Situations change and places can become available throughout the year.

If any places are available in a Year Level following the above process enrolments may re-open Thursday 28 July 2022.
