Uttley House Shave for Joenah
Joenahmed (Joenah) Iona started at Scots College in 2018. In the short time he was here his quiet, gentle manner impressed many of us. In late September of last year, Joenah was admitted to Starship Hospital for surgery and chemotherapy to deal with a cancer growing near his spine.
Since the 19th of October 2018 Joenah has undergone 13 cycles of chemotherapy and he still has at least one more to go. Joenah is a proud student of Scots College, and a member of the Uttley Whānau. As such, we want to show our support for him.
Our aim for Shave For Joenah is to raise $5,000 to donate to help Joenah and his family. Rachel Henry, as Joenah’s tutor, has said that if we can raise this amount, she will shave her head in support of Joenah. As the Dean of Uttley House, I have also put my hair and beard on the line. Head of Uttley House, Caelan Burns is joined by the Uttley Head of Middle School, Jono Lei, the Middle School leader for 2019 Gregor Burns, Thomas Cheevers, Sam Watson, Semurana Fepulea’i and Zion Opitaia-Tiatia in also shaving to show their support for Joenah.
The closing date for this is July the 1st. The shaving event will take place at lunch time, Tuesday July the 2nd. The family who donates the largest overall amount will have the privilege of wielding the clippers on the day.
Donations are being made directly to the school at the following account: 01-0504-0048892-000 – Scots College Inc. Please include your family name and the reference “SFJ.”
*As the end recipient is not a registered charity and we are just a middle man no charitable donation receipts can be issued.
*Funds raised are to be used at the discretion of the family
