High Performance Athletes Programme
Ever wanted to excel in sport? Scots College offers your son this option, which is different to a ‘normal’ physical education classes at Year 9 level. Being selected for this class, your son will receive specific information on sports management and sports performance. He will be learning information that will enable him to perform better in game type situations, be more aware of his body’s potential and learn how to maximise his performance.
PROGRAMME GOALS:
- Allow students to better organise their sporting commitments around their academic studies
- Encourage students to be ‘reflective practitioners’ allowing them to better meet personal goals
- Development of a mentoring system whereby senior athletes are modeling good practice for junior athletes
- Cover broad areas of sporting practice including: Sport Science, Testing and Conditioning, and Sport Specific Practice
PROGRAMME DETAILS:
- Ongoing monitoring and testing of fitness levels
- This will a timetabled class for the academic year and will be in line with Physical Education classes
- Goal setting and reflection using training log book
- Ongoing mentoring system whereby senior athletes will work with junior athletes to model good practice (sporting, academic, social, cultural, …)
- Presentations from sporting practitioners in a range of areas from sports nutrition to sports medicine
- Access to specialist coaching and motivation in consultation with students own sports coaches
- Access to College weight room membership and be given a personalised exercise programme
