Pipe Band in winning form at Highland Games

Scots College Pipe Band was celebrating in style recently as they have secured another trophy to add to their collection.

The band took part in the Turakina Highland Games held last 28 January 2012. This is an important event in the Piping calendar, and again the boys were competing not with other schools, but with mixed ages and experienced players.

A proud parent, Richard Latta enthused “It always surprises me how many people make the effort to attend the event”, enjoyed by the thousands that were there.  The atmosphere in the band area was electric after the win."

The Director of Pipes and Drums Marion Horsburgh said, “I was thrilled by the band’s win.  It is our most challenging event, we put out our best players and the guys responded with a very polished performance.”

Helen Ryan of Hamilton, a long time supporter of the band noted the team spirit on display “such a positive note under the leadership of the new Pipe Major Alwyn McCallum”.
