Championship win 'special'

Stuart Williams could be excused for thinking that his triumph in the New Zealand youth match racing championship in Wellington this month was heaven sent.

Winning a national title is a noteworthy achievement, but that was only part of the reason Williams, a year-12 student at Scots College, gained such satisfaction from being part of the winning Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club crew.

The victory meant the crew took the Warren Williams Trophy, named in honour of Stuart's father, who died in 2007. "It was very special to win it," Stuart said.
