Old Boys endorse Head's decisive action
Headmaster Graeme Yule is to be congratulated for his handling of the events surrounding cannabis use at the college says the Chairman of the Scots College Old Boys Association, Francis Wevers.
“Cannabis use is reportedly rife in some schools in the community – this is not what Scots College is about.
“Breaches of the law by boys cannot be tolerated and the college has to send a strong signal to all boys that, if they offend, they will no longer be welcome at Scots.
“Old Boys will applaud the courage of the boys who blew the whistle on those among them who were bringing their college into disrepute. It’s no easy thing to do what is right when it means trouble for your colleagues. But the values Scots College culture is founded in leave no room for a small group to offend against the law without facing the consequences of their actions.
“I feel considerable sympathy for the parents in this situation but the College must uphold the highest standards because that is what makes Scots College so special,” concluded Francis Wevers.
