Cocktail Party to celebrate Dick Evans' induction into Garden of Honour

27 July 2010

SCOBA will be hosting a celebratory cocktail party for Old Boys and their partners at 5.45 p.m. at the Wellington Club on Friday 20 August in recognition of iconic Old Boy, Dick Evans.

Dick was the grandfather of the "dress up and have a party" brigade at the Wellington 7's.  He was Mr Wellington Rugby for most of the 60's, 70's and 80's and seemed to be at the forefront of every event involving Wellington's representative rugby teams during those decades, playing his trumpet and marching in his brightly coloured Wellington colours suit.

Dick was also a stalwart Old Boy who gave unstintingly of his time and energy to support and promote Scots College and the Old Boys Association.

New Old Boys Ties

27 July 2010

The Old Boys Association has commissioned a series of new SCOBA ties to replace the official tie which has been in use for some years.

"The Executive was motivated to do something tangible and wanted to create a more modern yet traditional tie which old Boys would be proud to wear on all occasions.  For that reason we have done the tie in dark blue, red and black (see the images below)," said Chairman Francis Wevers.

"The tie is very smart and I nearly always wear mine because I'm proud to show my educational heritage.

"We have also decided to commission and offer a whole range of clothing and other merchandising with the Old Boys logo on it.  Keep an eye out in future."
