Senior Chess 2010 update

Welcome from the G4 chess arena in the aftermath of an unbelievable second round yesterday. The desks still have not re-found their proper places and there's pawn all over the room.

Round 1

Round 1 was a clean sweep by the big 4.

Mawson, the junior champs from last year made short work of Aitken, who still laments the loss of Simeon Wilson.

Ferguson feature the perennial favourites Wei Kai and Wei Shian Chen. These guys are usually untouchable and Plimmer were their latest scalps.

Glasgow had a cruisy start against Smith.

Mackenzie cleaned house against Uttley.

Round 2

Mawson v Ferguson came early this year. Ryan Wyatt could not repeat his dominance over Wei Kai last year although the game went well into extra time. Wei Shian struggled to overcome Toby Barton.

In Aitken vs Uttley all sides were plagued with blunders and a win each was probably a fair result.

The Glasgow pair of unrelated Lin's managed to overpower Plimmer's pair of Nguon and Wolyncewicz.

Mackenzie had the cross-country instructions in mind when they destroyed both Smith players in under 10 minutes - mistakenly expecting bonus points for finishing in the top time band.
