So I guess the competition is all drawn. Fergusson won't drop a game to Aitken, nor would Mackenzie to Plimmer. Mawson and Glasgow can't catch up, so the important match-up this round is Smith trying to avoid relegation by beating Uttley. I can't wait. No, I can, but won't. Woohoo for this round, here goes anyway, if you're still reading.
Uttley vs Smith
I tried to watch, really I did. GVM tried too. This one was so painful to watch that GVM left in disgust missing some of the best blunders of all time. It was all blunders, but there were some really really awful ones to finish.
U 2 S 0
But the silver-lining: due to timetabling issues and encroachment of extra-curricular, Smith will not be able to play in the Year 3 champs next year. This has been flagged in the 2011 school wide goals and discussions around their seniors possibly playing in the middle school 2012 are underway.
Glasgow vs Mawson
This nearly went all Mawson's way as Glasgow forgot to turn up. Some quick thinking by SEW by retrieving any old Glaswegian Ned fay the caummon rroom meant Mawson did have to play a little. An accidental stalemate on board 2 showed the wisdom of playing on in completely lost games at this level of chess. Wyatt doesn't make mistakes.

Mackenzie vs Plimmer
Tim Rowe is a fighter and he surely scrapped with Cartwright. However Cartwright fights dirty from the first move and it never was a fair fight after that. Rumbal vs Wolyncewicz had potential, however Rumbal rumbled a rook in under 3 mins, erased his queen by 10 mins and though Luke thought very very hard, it was a comprehensive trouncing.
M 2 P 0
So to conclude this exceptionally predictable and boring round
Ferguson vs Aitken
Wei Kai against Henry Lawrence had real promise of being a tough battle. It wasn't. So that left Wei Shian vs Eddie Lo and you'd put your house on Wei Shian in that one. In fact I tried to, but the TAB wasn't offering odds and even SJC wouldn't lay off a bet. Wei Shian was cleaning out one corner of Eddie's white pieces, forked his king and rook, and pinned a bishop. Eddie was given a reprieve of one move and his queen was dropped in front of Wei Shian's king. "Checkmate" said Eddie without exclamation. It was a fantastic moment. Ferguson had snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, blown it, lost the plot and given away a sitter.
