Scots College students participate in ANZAC Ceremonies
Scots College students actively participated in ANZAC Services held on Monday 25 April.
College Prefect and Pipe Band member Connor Macrae was chosen to be the Lone Piper at the official Dawn Ceremony at the Cenotaph in Wellington. Other members of the Scots College Pipe Band were part of the ceremony. Along with Connor, they formed part of the parade that led war veterans and servicemen and women to and from the service. This is the third year the Pipe Band has been asked to participate in the Dawn Ceremony, but the first time a Scots piper has been asked to be the Lone Piper, so a very big honour for Connor and his family.
Jonty D'Arcy Smith, Deputy Head Prefect, was the College representative at the Citizens’ Service of Commemoration and Wreath Laying ANZAC Dawn ceremony in Wellington and and lay a wreath at the ceremony held at Wellington Cathedral.
Head Prefect, Graeme Peter, was honoured to be asked to be the Youth Representative for Wellington at the National Commemorative Service held at the National War Memorial, where he read an excerpt from "The Winnowing Fan" by Lawrence Binyon.
All roles were significant in each ceremony and Scots College is proud to have been represented so ably.
