To parents of Senior Science students,

NCEA Revision “AME Workbooks’ and

Livewire Revision Workbooks for physics at NCEA Level 1

To assist your son with his preparation for the examinations we have ordered ‘AME Workbooks’ which contain a brief summary of key points for each Achievement Standard together with recent past papers and answers.

It is expected that boys will complete these workbooks and highlight any areas of weakness which they can later discuss with their teacher. Students are also shown how the large open-ended scaffolded questions should be approached.

We are aware that students need plenty of practice in answering questions at Achieved, Merit and Excellence levels and completing these workbooks together with the follow up with the teacher will help considerably.

Our trial examinations will this year take place at the end of term 3 so it is important that they start on these workbooks as soon as possible.

Please let me know if you do not want your son to receive this workbook. The cost will be $20 each (Retail $25). We plan for delivery by the end of Term 2 2012.

Currently available AME Workbooks:

• Biology NCEA:  Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 and Scholarship
• Chemistry NCEA: level 1, Level 3 and Scholarship
  NB NCEA Level 2 Chemistry will not be available until Term 3 

• Physics NCEA; Level 1, Level 3 and Scholarship (Cost $20) AND Physics NCEA 'Study packs' by Study Pass Ltd for Level 3 (Cost $20)
  NB NCEA Level 2 Physics will not be available until Term 3 

Also currently available: Livewire Workbooks for Physics at NCEA Level 1. The cost will be $9.00.
