National Success for Underwater Hockey

[20 September 2010] The Scots College Senior Underwater Hockey Team won Gold at the recently held National secondary schools championship held at Rotorua last weekend

This is the best result that Scots college has ever achieved in this sport.

This along with the Junior team placing fourth meant Scots was also awarded the Top School Award. This is given to the school that performs consistently at all levels.

Seb Newman-Dennis - Scots College‘s goalie - was named “Male Player of the Tournament”.

Jason Hart and Seb Newman-Dennis were also selected for the Senior tournament team which means they are one of the ten best players in their division. Nick Healy and Xander Wijninckx were selected for the Junior tournament team.

Earlier in the year all 11 senior players were selected to trial for the Wellington U18 rep squads which were held last week. From a selection of over 40 players Jason Hart, Seb Newman-Dennis and Liam Privett were selected for the U18 A-team. While Seb and Jason are already members of the national squads, this is a real achievement for Liam as he is only 16.

There were also 6 boys picked for the B-team: Tim Corbett, Luke Cody, Jamie Belesky, Geordie Hasson, Chandula Wijeweera and Tom Kiddle.
