Mental Health Awareness Week
Next week is Mental Health Awareness Week 23-29 September the theme is “Explore your way to wellbeing” Whaia te ara hauroa, Whitiora. Discovering the things that make you feel good and doing more of them.
This week is an important reminder that we all go through ups and downs in life that is a part of being human hence the importance of exploring and discovering ways that can help us when we are feeling good and also when we are not.
“Exploring our way to wellbeing is something we can do right now to make a real difference”.
Mental Health Awareness Week is underpinned by Te Whare Tapa Wha a Maori health model that describes health and wellbeing as a Wharenui/meeting house with four walls the walls are:
- taha hinengaro / mental health
- taha wairua / spiritual health
- taha tinana / physical health
- taha whanau / family and friends
Our connection with the whenua/ land forms the foundation.
