Life In Wellington
Scots College is situated in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. It is a vibrant city with many cultural and sporting opportunities, enabling vistors to experience the best that New Zealand has to offer.
Wellington is New Zealand’s cultural capital. The city is home to many museums, theatres and arts festivals, including Te Papa Tongarewa (the Museum of New Zealand), the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the biennial Festival of the Arts. Many sporting events also take place in Wellington including international rubgy games featuring the New Zealand team the All Blacks. Wellington also has a thriving film industry. It is home to world renowned film director Sir Peter Jackson. Much of The Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed here.
Wellington city is centred on a harbour which offers many water activites including, sailing, diving and swimming. It is also a few hours away from one of New Zealand’s main ski fields.
Wellington has two universities & several polytechnics and the National Schools of Dance, Drama and Film.
A number of international companies reside in Wellington along with international embassies, resulting in an ethnically diverse population. Many other Wellington high schools are host to international students from around the world.
