Interested in a kōrero i te reo group in Miramar?
With so many of us wanting to learn te reo, why not create a space where people can practice speaking together? This could be a great option for people who have finished a course and are not sure how to keep practicing, to support their current studies, continue knowledge or for those who missed out on courses that filled up or are inaccessible to them.
What this could look like is people coming together (potentially bring along kai to share) at a regular evening/daytime hour (occurring monthly or more often if desired) and just speaking as much as possible in te reo Māori. This would be a space where a range of abilities could come together, (probably working best if people had at least some knowledge of te reo) and without judgement could practice speaking together informally. This could be facilitated with conversation cue cards and might be useful to have some form of faciliator/leader there (but not essential). This would most likely be free or koha based, Miramar & Maupuia Community Centre would be happy to support/facilitate it.
It would be great to have this going in September as it is Mahuru Māori (encouraging use of te reo for September).
