10am – 2pm
Scots College Front Field
Once again we will be hosting the bi-ennial Scots College Gala on the front field on Saturday 23 February 2019 in conjunction with the regional pipe band competition.
The Gala celebrates Scot’s place in the local community as well as being a major fundraiser for the College. The Gala is only run every two years with the 2019 Gala raising funds for the outdoor seating and environmental features of the new McKinnon Building.
The Scots College Gala Needs You!
On Saturday 23 February 2019, Scots College throws open the doors to the biennial Scots College Gala. The Gala celebrates Scots’ place in the community as well as being a major fundraiser for the College. We cannot do this without your help!
Firstly, we need 200 volunteers to man the stalls on Gala day and a further 40 to assist with the Garage drop in days in the lead up to the Gala. In return for your time and hard work I can promise you a very rewarding experience as well as an opportunity to meet other parents and members of our wider community.
We are also looking for Team Leaders to volunteer for the following areas:
– Garage Sale (various)
– Activities Stations (various)
– Drop Off Days (various)
Please volunteer now by volunteering via SignUp.com (an online signup and reminder tool.)
Here’s how SignUp works in three easy steps:
1) Click this link to see our SignUp on SignUp.com: http://signup.com/go/FxYSqaQ
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It’s Easy – you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com.
SignUp.com does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact Gala Event Manager, Libby Carson at firstname.lastname@example.org
Secondly are you able to help with food donations? We are also seeking the following food donations:
– lamb (for our Lamb on a Spit stall)
Lastly, we need you, your family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances to come and enjoy the Gala. There will be food from the four corners of the world, stalls selling cakes, sweets, toys, books, plants and clothing as well as a range of entertainment for all ages including duck pond luck dip, sponge the teacher and more.
This bi-ennial community event relies on the help of many parents, caregivers and students both before and during the event. In previous years over 200 people have contributed (including many teachers and students) so it’s definitely a good opportunity to get involved and make this a success for our school.
Here are some ways you can help:
Donating goods for the garage sale
Over the next couple of months, think about putting aside any preloved items to donate to the garage sale. This includes books, toys, games, furniture, household items and clothing. You’ll be able to drop off your donations at school on THREE DAYS ONLY so make sure you put the dates in your diaries now. Details around drop off locations will be shared in the new year.
– Saturday 16 February 9am-3pm
– Sunday 17 February 9am-3pm
– Tuesday 19 February 3.45-5.00pm
Volunteers before and on gala day
There’s a lot of work before gala day in setting up and sorting out goods for sale. Then on gala day, we need lots of helpers to man the stalls. You can help by volunteering for a job that suits your schedule. Look out for more communications about how to volunteer using the sign-up app over the next few weeks.
Business/Corporate Help – Sponsor for signage
If you have business connections and are interested in contributing to the gala in other ways such as:
• Running a stall to promote your business and donate to the gala
• Donating goods for our garage sale
• Donating wholesale food or beverage products i.e. sausages, bread, meat/fish, eggs, milk, etc.
• Donating smaller items for our tombola, i.e. games, etc.
• Sponsoring a stall i.e. face-painters, bouncy castles
If you are able to help us out, please email us at email@example.com and/or call our gala Event Manager, Libby Carson on 027 2693939.
