Future Focussed Learning in the Middle School
Interdisciplinary teaching and learning is part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Middle Years Programme.
In Year 10 students undertake a community project which requires them to work collaboratively in groups, along with their supervisor, while exploring their responsibility to take action by serving the community.
Further examples in the Middle School include an annual exhibition from Technology and Arts students where students express a theme or topic through their chosen art or technology brief to parents and the wider community. As well as a Year 8 and a Year 9 class who work throughout the year on an interdisciplinary programme combining Maths, English, Science and Humanities and some Year 8 science students undertake self-led research projects presented at their own TED style evening. Below is a video made by one of the Year 8 Science groups for their InSted presentation.
