Foundation Dinner with Hon. John Key – A Wonderful Night
The 2015 Foundation dinner at the Boatshed on Tuesday 25 August represented an auspicious event on the Scots social calendar. Prime Minister Hon. John Key and Sir David Carruthers were amongst some of the evening’s guest speakers and speeches from students Andrew Tang and Matthew Strawbridge were amongst the many highlights.
The black-tie event has become an annual fixture on the College calendar, bringing together Old Boys, current and former parents, staff and supporters to celebrate the year’s successes, preview new developments, and most importantly a chance to catch up with old friends and new.
“The Foundation was established in 1983 to provide long-term financial security and stewardship for the College, but it’s more than that, it’s central to our College community,” said Chair of the Foundation, John Feast. “This Dinner is about bringing people together. The College is fortunate to have an incredibly loyal and supportive community. It was great to see so many familiar faces at the dinner, and also to meet new members of the Scots family,” he said.
The evening was MC’d by broadcaster Ken Laban, and speakers included the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon John Key, Old Boy and head of the Independent Police Conduct Authority, Sir David Carruthers, and Headmaster Graeme Yule.
The fundraising event raised in proximity of $32,000 which goes towards the Scholarship Foundation fund. Photos from the evening can be viewed at our Flickr account
Following the overwhelming success of the yearlong centenary celebrations in 2016 the Foundation dinner will return again in 2017 on Tuesday 29 August.
