Cricket 2009

1st XI

Scots College 1st XI has shown that it is a very sharp outfit so far this year with a lot of great individual performances.  Players of note this season have been abrasive leading wicket taker Matthew Kelleher, intelligent all rounders Alex Roberts-Gray and Andrew Benham and chirpy Vice-Captain Nick Wellwood.  All boys are senior players in the side and have ably led this young side.  Although the side has played some outstanding cricket this season the most pleasing aspect has been the improvement in attitude.

On 10 January 2010, 15 young men, a tour manager, coach and player support person met at the Wellington Airport to say goodbye to family and friends, ready for a 12 day tour through Australia.

 Planning was complete. Training over the winter period had finished. What lay ahead was the trip of a lifetime for these young men. The team was captained by Year 13 student Nick Wellwood and comprised of both experienced senior players mixed with young talented cricketers. Six 50-over games were played, three in Melbourne and three, plus one 20/20 match, in Adelaide.
