Men's Basketball Signs Two Athletes to a National Letter of Intent
PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh men's basketball program signed two student-athletes--Steven Adams (Rotorua, New Zealand/Notre Dame Academy, Mass.) and James Robinson (Mitchellville, Md./DeMatha Catholic H.S.)--to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Jamie Dixon announced on Friday. The NCAA Division I fall men's basketball signing period began Wednesday, Nov. 9 and concludes on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Pitt signs two world-class basketball players
Pitt coach Jamie Dixon has his best recruiting class signed, sealed and delivered.
Dixon received signed letters of intent from two top prospects today with center Steven Adams and guard James Robinson committing on the dotted line. Both players are expected to enroll at Pitt next summer.
The class is considered one of the top 10 in the country, according to the recruiting rankins. CBSSports.com ranks the class fifth and ESPNU and Rivals.com ranks it eighth.
Steven Adams: 2011 Premier College Sportsperson of the Year
Steven Adams (Year 13) is a 2011 Premier College Sportsperson of the Year awardees for Basketball. Sharing this title is Julianne Alvarez of Sacred Heart College for Golf. The Awards Dinner was held last Sunday, 06 November 2011 at the Amora Hotel.
Kieron McDonald also received recognition under the Individual Code category as 2011 Athlete of the Year and 2011 Cross Country / Road Runner of the Year, with Steven Adams as Basketball Player of the Year.

Teens already making mark on world scene
School stardom... now international stardom on the horizon.
That is the likely scenario for the winners of the two main prizes at the College Sport Wellington awards dinner last night.
Basketballer Steven Adams took the Young Sportsman of the Year award and golfer Julianne Alvarez was the Young Sportswoman of the Year.
Both athletes have already made a mark on the international stage.
Adams, a seven-foot (213cm) year 13 pupil at Scots College, made a huge impression at the Adidas National camp in Los Angeles in August.
