Snapper Cards & Bus Information

Frequently Asked Questions for parents

How do I charge the Snapper chip?

Log on to the snapper web site and register the card. Then you can either top it up online, or your sons can use the College shop to top up to a maximum of $20. If you wish a greater amount to be loaded, you can advise Saira Naran by means of a signed note.

What happens if my son loses his card?

Send him to see Ms Esterman in the Information Centre (Secondary School) and she’ll order him a new card. However, please be fairly sure it’s not just misplaced before you commit to another card!

What if the Snapper chip won’t work after it’s registered?

We try hard to check for faults, but if the chip will not read correctly, we can arrange for a replacement card at no additional cost.

Do I have to get the Snapper chip?

If your son uses public transport, it’s a very good idea.
Also, the College shop no longer stocks bus passes (they have been phased out) and so Snapper is a better option, and also slightly cheaper.

Please encourage your sons to carry their ID cards at all times. They need them not only for transport but also for issuing library books and laptops, and for photocopying.

Your assistance is appreciated. Please direct any questions to Sue Esterman, estermans@scotscollege.school.nz. or phone 04 3807583 or to Saira Naran in the College Shop 3808536

Going by Bus

The most popular method of students coming to and going from Scots College is via public transport. The College has established policies for students in relation to the usage of public transport and a programme for purchasing public transport passes and tickets.
