Prep Library

Prep Library

All classes visit the library during each timetable cycle for a specialist library period. During these class periods the boys have the opportunity to issue books, learn new library skills, research and most importantly read.

The Prep Library has a collection of over 15,000 titles. The special nature of our school means that all books are bought with boys in mind. We have a varied fiction collection which includes many new and popular authors as well as the classics.

Student Librarians

All Year 7 and 8 boys have the opportunity to become Student Librarians. All Student Librarians have a duty day where they come to the library during the second half of lunch and help with issuing, returning, shelving and tidying.

Literacy Awards

The Literacy Awards are a levelled series of book lists which require the boys to read a set number of books, across a range of genre.  The purpose of the Literacy Awards is to increase the reading mileage of all boys and to encourage them to read across a broad range of writing styles.  For each book read a boy earns 25 House Points.  Upon achieving a Literacy Award a boy receives a book prize in assembly.
