Scots College is situated in Strathmore, one of Wellington's Eastern suburbs. The College occupies a sizeable area of land, with significant outdoor space, allowing students to participate in many activities outside the classroom. Scots is also fortunate to provide modern classroom facilities, which greatly support students' learning.
Among the range of specialist facilities at the College, there is a Fine Arts Centre, Graphics Suite, Technology Suite and Music Centre. The Information Centre incorporates the Library and extensive computing facilities. A state-of-the-art Science Wing opened in June 2006. The Tony Shelly Centre contains a Careers Centre, Common Rooms for senior boys and a Lecture Theatre. Tennis courts, a gymnasium, all-weather surface sports grounds and extensive playing fields provide excellent recreational facilities. The College Boarding House was refurbished in 2007.
Scots College has decided to undertake two major development projects over the next four years. The first of these is the Creative and Performing Arts Centre. This will provide a new Pipe Band facility, recording studio, Drama rooms, Music rooms, Middle School administration area, offices, Art and Graphics rooms. We are grateful to Richard Taylor from Weta for his expert advice which will ensure this facility is state of the art. This world class facility will position the College as a world leader in these areas.
The second major project is the development of a Covered Sports Centre in the area currently occupied by our cricket nets. This development will see this area fully enclosed providing a four lane indoor practice facility and effectively another College gymnasium. The College will use this to create a cricket academy.
These projects will provide Scots students with a number of opportunites to further enhance their learning.
