Book of the Week : Dirt Bomb
Dirt Bomb
By Fleur Beale
Random House
RRP: $19.99
The latest offering from award-winning Wellington author Fleur Beale is DIRTBOMB. Published this year, it’s a rollicking story about teenage boys and cars and girls and problems. Jake has two mates, and they want to restore a derelict car for off-road racing. But Jake has a problem – no money. He really wants to get involved in the project, so much against his natural inclinations, he has to find a way to get money. He does, and grows up in the process. It’s a very easy, engaging read and highly recommended not only to boys.

This book was inspired by the author's own nephew Tim Corney who, along with a bunch of mates, pulled an old Holden out of a ditch and thrashed it around the paddocks.
