Art Auction
Art collectors and forty of New Zealand's leading contemporary artists (see full list below), have generously donated over 60 artworks to the Scots College Art Auction to help raise funds for the new Creative and Performing Arts Centre currently under construction at the school. All works will be on display in an exhibition at City Gallery Wellington (2-7 July), and the auction will take place at 7pm on Thursday 7 July.
This auction is due in large part to the generosity and support of Aloysius Teh, one of our parents, art patron and a key organiser. He states:
“I take great pleasure in seeing this art auction event come together. It’s wonderfully encouraging to have the support of artists, dealer art galleries, art collectors and others to make this auction event a reality.
It is often the case that New Zealand artists are overlooked when art students begin their journey of discovery and learning. The New Zealand contemporary artists represented in this catalogue include some of the leading and best talent and others who are at the start of their journey with great promise of successful careers. This art auction project connects learning with the real world – the artists, their galleries and art collectors. It’s a great thing to be able to recognise these artists’ support in the Artists’ Room on the first floor of Scot’s Creative and Performing Arts Centre. Scots’ students can have every reason to be inspired and aspire as high as the artists who have generously supported this significant learning investment. Here’s to creating more artists, more art lovers and art collectors, I say.”

To see the works in person, come along to City Gallery from Saturday 2 July through to Thursday 7 July (10am to 5pm daily). A special preview for Scots families and friends will be held on Sunday 3 July between 3 and 5pm. Come along and hear some of our Art History students speak on the artwork.
