Recording Studio

Recording Studio

Opened in September 2012, the Scots College Recording Studio contains a huge variety of modern industry standard equipment that has been used to record everything from Pipe Band auditions through to full Tahitian choirs.

Students have access to ProTools and Media Composer, which can create both professional audio recordings, and also full HD films. Examples of what the studio space can be used for include Audition videos, music videos, band recordings right down to a student that just wants to sing along to a backing track to hear what they might sound like on the radio. Deaf Aotearoa have used the space several times to film NZSL advertisement videos for their website Signpost, and recent Annie star Ilena Shadbolt recorded her composed song “I’ve Got You” in a short afternoon. It has also been home to many of Miranda Harcourt’s budding young actors, who attend the Professional Level Teen Acting for Stage and Screen course, here on Saturdays at CPAS.

With one large control room that can connect to the enclosed recording booth, 2 larger music rooms, along with the huge drama stage, the possibilities are endless. In 2015, the studio will be put to maximum use with the full introduction of Scots TV into the curriculum, wherein a team of students can transform the Drama room into a modern TV studio where the action can be edited live upstairs as the presenters share their Scots goings-on.

The Studio is available for External users primarily out of school hours, evenings, weekends and school holidays but exceptions can be made. Perhaps you wish to hire the Avid editing suite, or want to record an audition. We welcome enquiries (email recordingstudio@scotscollege.school.nz) and are happy to discuss pricing.
