40 Hour famine 2018
This year the 40-hour Famine is coming up between the 8th and the 10th of June. This is a fantastic opportunity to help support the children of South Sudan, who have been forced to flee their homes due to war and conflict. There are now over 1 million child refugees that need help. As little as $24 can provide toys and games and a child friendly space to give kids that have been through traumatic events a chance to be kids again, a safe environment to play in and to have fun. Last year we did an amazing job helping to provide classrooms for the child refugees from Syria with over $8000 raised. This year our goal is to raise over $10,000 which will make a huge difference to the lives of these children.
Can I encourage you to talk to your children about this great service opportunity at our College. To sign up to the 40-hour famine is easy, just head to the World Vision website and join the Scots College team and start fundraising. There are several different ways that boys can participate in the 40-hour famine, including 40 hours without food, technology, furniture or come up with their own 40-hour challenge. https://www.worldvision.org.nz/connect/40-hour-famine
We will also be having a mufti day next Thursday the 14th, so please bring a donation to school help to support this great cause.
